 Course Description: 

 

–Students will study the history, geography, and cultures of the ancient world.

–Students will use maps, graphs, and charts as tools to learn in both cooperative and

 

individual activities.

 

–Students will develop a greater understanding of the World they live in.

 

–Students will use various methods to learn the material, including computer projects,

 

video and textbook reading, as well as an interactive classroom projects.

Overall Grade:  Students’ grades for social studies come from various sources.  The student’s grade is made up from homework, quizzes, tests and projects.  The more points an assignment/project or test has the more powerful an impact it will have on the overall grade.

 

Materials:

 

–Computer

 

–Textbook

 

–Social Studies Notebook/folder/binder (if you have no computer)

 

–Pencil/ Pen–no gel pens please

 

Classroom Expectations:

–Be Present, on time, and SEATED when the tardy bell rings

 

–Bring all materials with you (Pencil, computer, book, etc.)

 

–Be prepared to work cooperative, as well as independently

 

–Respect other people, their ideas, property and their person

 

–Use class time to your benefit

 

–Remain in your seat until dismissed

 

–If you’re absent:  make sure you get the assignment you missed from someone—online, a

 

friend, a neighbor, or myself.

 

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL MATERIALS PRESENTED IN CLASS…Assignments are due at the beginning of the class period.  All work must be in by the day assigned by 4 p.m.  After that, it’s a zero.

 

There will also be a list of about 50 facts that all 7th Grade social studies students will be required to master over the course of the year.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES TEXTBOOKS MUST BE COVERED AT ALL TIMES.  NO EXCEPTIONS.   (You will have 3 days to get them covered after issued.)

 

Failure to follow the Computer guidelines may result in the loss of your computer privileges in my classroom

Classroom Management/Discipline:

We will follow the BIST procedures set by the district.
Be sure to review the LMS Handbook for school rules.
